The Duke Harhold left the position and set upon a new ambitious path of bringing imperial favor to the Harholds..." - House Harhold Records The origin of House van Hal stemmed not from some ancient lineage or expansive family tree with generations of van Hals, but rather from within a single powerful family. In early January of 309 AC, the new surname was crafted as the youngest daughter of then Count Hengest Harhold, the Hound Lord of Vlissinghelm, decided to branch off from his legacy to craft her own. Until that point, Haeddi Jehanne Harhold was the last in line for any of her father's titles, however she was still the Baroness of Verleysteyn by her own right. While lacking decision making power in the family itself, she managed- before her departure into House van Hal- to gather personal prestige by obtaining positions within the Imperial Court. As 309 AC began, the now Haeddi van Hal was elevated to the Duchess of Westerhal and was joined in Regalia by Harhold cousins that wished to be by her side. Here started the legacy of the new House, built from the foundations of an earlier and better-known name. The newly branded Duchess came to inherit some of her father's sphere of influence in Lokinge. Initially, her leadership was seen with uncertainty by both fellow peers and local commonfolk. It soon became clear that the young van Hal was cut from a much different cloth than her father, favoring an altruistic and almost pacifistic outlook compared to the Harhold demeanor of cutthroat politics. Time will tell whether or not this will end up paying off for the young Duchess, earning her legacy in the short amount of time that it may exist at the forefront, especially with the recent Imperialization of the now Duchess Hera van Hal of Huilendom and some of her kin. ___________________ ================= PLAYED FAMILY Hera van Hal | The Matriarch of House van Hal and currently a Grand Duchess within the Peerage. She is the daughter of the Hound Lord Hengest Harhold and Lady Vivienne the Vile, stemming from a rich and well-questioned childhood through the bloody Harhold family. A scholar in many personal curiosities, yet the van Hal has a focus on archaeology and education itself, with an outspoken and cheery demeanor towards any that cross her.
