The war against Songaskia would continue with numerous assaults from all sides, all with differing outcomes. The first to act was the Lieutenant-Admiral Nathaniel Bigge on the shorelines of Bou Gasagou, a major Songaskian Pearl City on the western coast. While Bigge had already been dismissed from his position when the actual battle occurred, his orders were issued some time ago and could not be rescinded, so the battle proceeded. The idea was to completely obliterate the city with coastal bombardment, after quickly dispatching the coastal defences, the orders were issued to split the fleet up, the heavier Second Line Calemberger would continue to bombard the city, while the smaller Third Line Calemberger would be used to defend the fleet from an impending attack by the Songaskia. The complete order was issued from the Admiral to “flatten the city” and as such, the cannons were loaded with explosive rounds that caused a complete carnage in the Songaskian city, houses exploded while rubble flew everywhere, slaying many civilians and military alike. Perhaps this entire endeavor, Count Nathaniel Bigge tried to prove one desperate last time that he was competent before he was to be sacked as had been revealed at the Imperial audience, banking on the Songaskians having no means to defend themselves and sending his fleet blindly into the heart of the Songaskian Massaya.

The Songaskians however did respond when the fleet from Sikassaro sailed north to aid the city of Bou Gasagou. Originally it was headed for Massoilagui, but they suddenly stumbled upon the Grand Armada when sailing past the coastline to the northern city. The Songaskian fleet, while numerically inferior to the Grand Armada, had more average firepower in the smaller ships, if at the end of the day slightly less than the total of the Regalian Armada. Unfortunately, Nathaniel Bigge’s order to split up his fleet into two segments proved to be his undoing. Without the ability to properly maneuver the bombarding ships into the combat line because the smaller ships were further away, the Songaskian vessels bull rushed through the Third Line Calembergers which were outgunned three to one in number of cannons, sinking the HM Ödel and HM Meerkau while the other three quickly made a run for it. With the Third liner ships abandoning them, the heavier Second Line Calembergers tried to mount a defense by switching their bombardment tactic over to a naval sea battle, but the chaos of the Second liners retreating and the lack of ability of the Regalians to respond caused significant casualties. A full retreat was quickly ordered to return to the Frontier Armada which was massive, though on their flight, the HM Erhardt, HM Büdlowe, HM Krassthoff and HM Trimper were all sunk, while the sole Second Line Calemberger HM Meerköning was the only to escape. Of the Grand Armada, six out of the ten ships were sunk. 2600 Sailors lost their lives and over 2700 supply bales were lost. Almost 4000 bales of Regalian gold worth of people and material simply sank to the bottom of the ocean, never to be recovered. The remaining ships limped back to the Frontier Armada before being sent home to the shipyards for repairs. The tragedy of the loss was that if both parts of the fleet had not been ordered to perform two different tasks, then the superior firepower of the Regalian fleet would have likely won the day. Obviously, not many people in the capital were too happy with the result, especially since this was a painful loss reminiscing of the Songaskian surprise attack that also coincidentally destroyed the Grand Armada in the Regalian Archipelago just three years ago during the Songaskian invasion of Regalia.

If there was any silver lining to the events it would be that the Grand Armada did destroy three of the nine Songaskian ships. It was later also discovered that this was the main Songaskian fleet with the highest firepower. Even if all other Songaskian fleets would come together now, they could no longer outmatch the firepower of the Frontier Armada, so it was only a matter of time before complete naval dominance would be achieved. Additionally, the city of Bou Gasagou took considerable damage from the explosive shelling and would have barely any fortifications left to make a siege necessary.

Further north, Christopher Black and Ulric Typhonus worked together to assault the city of Massoilagui, also a large Songaskian Pearl City. The overbearing firepower of the Regalian fleet, more notably the three Nautknights with their massive cannons, as well as the Nebenmark’s three hundred cannons all opened fire on the city in an orchestrated fashion. An orchestra of cannons first shot through the walls like paper, before pummeling the larger buildings and towers dotting the skyline of the city. Within the time span of several hours, a grand total of 11,000 artillery rounds had been fired at the city, and notably around the city walls, only sad piles of rubble remained. Eventually, the Prince of the city agreed to a surrender even without a pitched battle on the condition that the civilian population be spared and that the soldiers in the army would be permitted to stand down their weapons and surrender to Regalian custody and have their lives protected against reprisals. No formal response was issued by the sieging armies, though for the time being, they agreed to a ceasefire to allow leadership to resolve their decision amongst themselves.

Back in Regalia, social unrest increased after a night of chaos near the Regal Bastion. Large numbers of citizens had started staging protests outside the Bastion to free the imprisoned Grand Revain Ulric Typhonus, though the largely peaceful protest gained a somewhat more tangibly sour undertone when the protestors were joined by large swathes of angry vagrants and beggars, the destitute and disenfranchised who had suffered at the back end of recent finance cuts to the Sanchella, which in turn had to shut down almshouses for the poor. It was particularly the poor that picked up torches and angrily camped outside of the Regal Bastion to call for the Undercrown to submit to the demands of the higher nobility. At the same time however, due to the supposed crimes and treasonous activities of the Norrvakt family, the Undercrown Charles Montagaard issued a fine for their treasonous activities. Beyond executing Carthas Norrvakt, the Norrvakt Patriarch’s adopted ex d’Eluise son, the family was charged with paying a sixth of their finances to the state as recompense. Due to the sudden loss of finances, the Norrvakt were also forced to disband 2,000 levies from their army, as they lacked the funding to properly maintain the full host.

"The greatest proof of madness is the disproportion of one's designs to one's means." tutted the old Reverend, as he sat upon the steps, watching the seething crowd around the castle. "How sour the heart of this city is, that while we bring glory to the Spirit abroad, we choke upon our own bitter pills. My prayers go to the soldiers abroad, for I do not know if they will have homes to return to after this war is won. May their sacrifices be remembered and realized as a greater lesson than the greed of those who sit behind walls."

Juliette seethed as she paced her room, the poor Norrvakts. Traitors- hah, what a joke. One of their own was murdered while he risked his life to fight for their laws. The young noble ran her fingers through her short hair, grumbling under her breath, "They kill my friend and then make them pay, where is that written as fair." The woman continued her trekking across her room; back and forth, back and forth, back and- she halted, her right heel pressed lightly to the boards in a half step. "What is my energy being wasted here for?" She asked aloud to herself, glancing about and then came to the conclusion of 'nothing'. She found her shoes and slipped her feet in them, she was done wasting her energy on nothing.

An enigmatic figure stood by a railing of a hanging balcony, his features illuminated by the moonlight. In his hands held a crisp roll of parchment that held the overarching details of the Crown Armanda. Two-thousand six hundred names were amongst the casualties, men with entire lives of their own with their hopes and dreams reduced to nothing more than a black scribble on paper, written off into history as a simple case of an admiral's incompetency.

No time was wasted on mourning, as a distant bell resonates in deep sombre tones at the signal of dawn, as though it knows the pain of the families whom will learn of their loved ones demise in the coming hours.

On the home front, and abroad, this were turbulent times...

He sat at his desk in his office, running his hand backwards through his hair, the night before had been stressful. In fact, he was still calming down from the great anger that he had felt. His butler had been decked by an old man with a club, Typhonus was imprisoned illegally and Norrvakt had been dishonorably executed, that traitor Montagaarde had taken it too far, it was time to fight or watch your city slowly turn to ashes.

Her heart throbbed as she thought once more about her dearest friend Carthas. Her own screams echoing through her mind as she thought about seeing his body swinging lifelessly, in a rather vulgar display of power.
Once finding herself calmed down, she sighed in relief, happy that atleast the Grand Revain, and the rest of the Norrvakt family were safe for now. Having gathered multiple protesters earlier that morning before those filthy poor people arrived, she felt somewhat proud of herself. Her public speaking had gotten much, much better. But despite her gain of courage, she felt saddened.
Though she wanted to be more sympathetic, she was a rather brutal business woman, and found herself scowling at the thought of all the delayed meetings in the future. How was she going to busy herself now? I guess the riot is still happening, and therefore, reason enough for her to stick around and help the best she could.

"A disaster! A tragedy of /unprecedented/ scale!" the teary eyed mustachioed figure shouted from behind a report, slamming it onto the table with meaty hands. "Twenty-six /hundred/ sailors! T-Twenty-six /hundred/ widows and fatherless sons!" the muscular Finance Minister crys out, his countenance contorted with sadness and anger--tears streaming down his face. Balling his calloused hands into fists he pounds them into the wood in a rage. "Nathaniel Bigge will answer for this to the countless families he has destroyed, and to His Imperial Holiness himself! He must /never/ lead a Regalian force /ever/ again!" he roars to his impromptu audience of muscle-bound clerks and bookkeepers, Alfred now slobbering in his fury.

The minister eventually calms and in a melancholy signs off on proposed methods to circumvent the loss of 4,000 bales--forwarding it to the Undercrown.

The Ministry suddenly seemed to be overcrowded with reports flooding all the departments from the battlefields. Yet with many open positions and very few to no consuls in some departments, work and information gathering was slow.

The latest report were simply thrown onto Sophia her desk. With every page her eyed grew wider and her feet tapped the floor quicker. As soon as she reached the list of names, she closed the report and placed it aside.

    Minsiter Maynard,

We've waited long enough with a meeting and I simply demand one now, especially in our current situation. Bookkeepers and clerks are informed of their tasks, yet a person who stands above those is completly ignored by yourself.

I demand a meeting today or tomorrow at the Ministry, not the Bastion, that is not where we work.

    With haste,

    Sophia du Polignac

Wulfric was sitting in his castle in Mountumbria when the letter listing the casualties came. He stood up, took it from the messenger, and read it, every single two-thousand-six-hundred men. He stood up, clenching his fists. "Count Bigge will pay." He then grabbed the second letter, and opened it, reading about all that Montegardee did. "Tell the men that we are not Going to Farahdeen in search of my Father, we are going to Regalia! Montegardee will be punished." The 18 year old whistled, and the old mutt of a dog that he persuaded his father to buy him when he was five, was quickly at his side. The old mongrel looked more like a wolf then a dog, with deep green eyes, with it's brown and black fur, with a few splots of gray, and it's razor sharp teeth. It's ears were pointed up, but one was bent over, and his tail looked like that of a hound. "Come on boy, it's time to go to Regalia." The dog walked at his side as he walked towards the drawbridge, years of rain had caused it to start rotting, and when he stepped onto it, it broke, and he fell into the shallow water, breaking his leg. Wulfric might not arrive at Regalia as soon as he wanted to.

Hour after hour he spent training and conditioning in the court yard, not caring the time nor the weather only one image keeping him going. Carthas's body hanging for the world to see. Hanging as the proof of the Undercrown's injustice. When ever he began to tire he'd say a simple phrase under his breath to himself. "You can not rest, you can not sleep, there will be plenty of time after Carthas is avenged, and if he isn't....well death is the eternal sleep."

Reddulf Ruyter looked over the report in his quarters at the Bastion, then allowed himself a sigh of exasperation when he saw the news about Grand Armada. Three thousand people that lost their lives, and four thousand bales of gold that they'd never get back, all because of an executive order by a former admiral. He looked outside to the mob of vagrants that had formed, then muttered under his breath, "And they said we were wrong for removing him. At least we can keep my favorite ornament."

"Hm, these decrepit, complacent nobles must be shown their place. No more should we have incompetent leaders lead our capable soldiers to their death." muttered Alric under his breath as he could be seen managing stacks of documents within the Regal Bastion. He'd look out of the window from his office, peering down into the courtyard where the mob had assembled to overthrow the Undercrown. With a loud sigh and a firm shake of his head, he'd resume his work.
