    Behavior Information

    Personality Traits

    • Creative/Unorthodox: Alistair has read many books on the Nicoloan fight style and incorporates the philosophy of outside the box thinking into his life quite prominently. This causes him to use dirty tricks or find clever ways of utilising his surroundings.

    • Stirn: Alistair is stirn, almost cold at times, his training as a knight engraved into his mind as well as countless battles. He is not emotionless, rather the opposite, fueled by extreme love and compassion for his family and knightly duties. He can joke, he can laugh, but, this will fade away in an instant if need be.

    • Loving: Coens are very protective of their own and very loving of those they consider their own, Alistair is no exception, he loves his family and his friends and would go to extreme lengths for them. Someone who has struggled with friends as a child causes him to be overprotective of his family and family but more so his friends, taking his family for granted but his friends something one must work for.

    • Generous: A bad habit of his is his kind heart, he will not go so far as to give money to the poor, but he will not ignore the calls of distress from a stranger. He will offer himself wholly to his family and help with anything he can. He’s always disliked this about himself. Thinking it contradicts the image he has strives and works for himself he disguises this trait with his stern demeanor and devout Viridian involvement. Though he would have acted with or without his Viridian involvement anyway.

    • Cruel: Alistair has a cruel side, especially in combat as he lacks mercy or forgiveness. He will follow a battle though to the end unless is assured he will lose. He will likely not show mercy and aim for the most efficient way to end a fight, whether it be to disarm or kill his opponent.

    • Over Thinker: With his creativity, this spells bad news for individuals who get in his way. He will often plan far ahead in arguments and even battles while running as many tactics as he can in his head to win both domestically and military. This will put him under a lot of stress at times. Sometimes the stress causing him to think more and cause headaches and bouts of anxiety.

    • Witty: Another trait developed with his exchanges with Lottie. Alistair is a witty man, having much practice with hurtful and silver tongued exchanges. This aids Alistair quite a bit, growing up with women enabled him to speak to other nobles relatively well in terms, though at times his underhanded comments are somewhat brash, sometimes not even underhanded at all, though Alistair does not know this.

    • Line pusher: Alistair is capable of seeing the line in social situations to a degree, despite still having difficulty with it chooses to push anyway. He enjoys pushing people, to see how they’ll react. To test them or to simply have fun watching their faces. This little habit has and will continue to put him in some uncomfortable positions at times. Pushing too far is something he is sometimes known for.

    • Diligent: Alistair’s loyalty to his knightly duties, friends and family knows no bounds. The lengths he will go to are extreme and equal for each point, at times, causing him internal conflict as to who he sides with. He believes that anything he does for the Empire will benefit his family in the end. Though at times he simply is unable to see his loved potentially hurt, even if it is for the better.
    Likes

    • The Viridian Order: Obvious, he is a knight. He has trained day and night for 9 years, starting at 14 and ending at 23, he adores the order and what it means to be a knight.

    • Family: The Coens have a reputation of fiercely protecting their own and Alistair is no exception, he loves his family and would gladly lay down his life for them.

    • Fighting: Alistair has always had an interest in fighting and enjoys the adrenaline to an almost addictive degree, he has studied and trained in hand to hand and armed combat, he mainly trained with Thomas Kade and studied various other forms of swordplay.

    • Arguments: Alistair enjoys verbal fights, most notably with his sister, Millie Coen. His sisters sharp tongue has left him well equipped to snap back at those his talk ill of him or his family.

    • Reading: The wealth of Alistair’s family afforded him the luxury of education and being taught to read, surprisingly Alistair took to reading quite well, fueling his imagination.
    Dislikes

    • Show offs/peacocks: Alistair greatly dislikes those who feel the need to be right all the time or those who flaunt how great they are. He finds it unrealistic and simply bugs him to the degree to feel the need to put them in their place whenever he sees them.

    • Slander of his family: Needless to say, if you slander his family Alistair is not likely to forget, he holds his family in high regard.

    • Selfishness/greed: Those who take the easy way out at the expense of others is something he does not agree with, although he understands that some situations will call for such having had to the same in the past but the majority of the time it is done selfishly. Selfishness itself is something he cannot stand, having known it for a good portion of his life.

    • Hypocrisy: Those who don’t practice what they preach do not have Alistair’s respect and will become target of ridicule. This stems heavily from his father, Robert, who was an illegal weapons trader yet kept up the guise as well established man to the eyes of the public, even his own family.

    • Spiders: Those who know Alistair well will have likely noticed his dislike of spiders, he hates them, sometimes even causing him to the leave the room unless he is absolutely needed.
    Abilities and Disabilities

    Strengths

    • Athletic: Alistair keeps his body in the best physical shape possible, he exercises intensely often and spars as often as his life permits. His athleticism broadens his combat capabilities greatly allowing him to perform feats standard warriors would struggle to do.

    • Clever/Imaginative: Having spent a good portion of his time reading fight manuals and adventure novels Alistair’s imagination is quite vivid and wild, topped off with his wit and usually clear mind this makes for a valuable tool in verbal and physical combat.

    • Unorthodox: Alistair is very unorthodox in his way of thinking, he thinks very outside the box and this affects how he handles and resolves issues making hard to predict and hard to counter if any were to go against him.
    Weaknesses

    • Intimidating posture: Alistair is a solid 6’3 with a very rigid military stance, despite being a laid back man people tend to think he is tense by simply the way he stands, often intimidating them to the point of people not approaching him. This will often irritate him, especially when talking to someone and sensing their discomfort simply because of the way he stands.

    • Aspergers: Alistair has Asperger’s syndrome, he is not aware of this and likely never will be. Despite possessing a high intelligence he tends to take things literally, and can be very stubborn. He has good social skill, though this is learned and will sometimes struggled reading scenarios and people, though rarely. He is also quite clumsy, his combat is unhindered by this through his training but out of combat he can sometimes trip, knock into people and knock things over without realising.

    • Risky: Alistair is an adrenaline junky, he loves the rush and thrill. This combined with his confident and sometimes demeanor he will often take unnecessary risks during a fight, often these risks will succeed, other times they will not.

    • Overthinking his strategies: Alistair will sometimes overthink his strategies. Often open to taunts and pressure adding tactics, causing irritations and occasionally skipping over a step.

    • Stamina draining fight style: Being a fast and fierce fighter Alistair uses up much of his stamina quickly. He is able to fight comfortably for 10 to 12 minutes before fatigue sets in, slowly decreasing his speed and power of his attacks.
    Combat Styles

    • Fast and forward (Sword): Utilising speed and strength, Alistair will focus on the offensive, always pushing forward only moving back to avoid or smack away oncoming blades, this style is simple, efficient and fluid. allowing for improvisation when need be.

    • Aggressive and creative: Alistair has read extensively on nicoloan fighting style, he fights outside of the box and keeps his fight style basic allowing him creative freedom when fighting.

    Life Story

Alistair was born in the year 272 to Robert and Elizabeth Coen in Val Croix of Ithania and was the first to be born out of the three siblings, Viollete and Teresa Coen. Alistair was born healthy and was expected to be another strapping man able to forge and continue the family legacy of forging, unbeknownst to Robert and Elizabeth that Alistair’s love of the sword would fall outside of the forge.

Alistair spent much of his time between the ages of 5 and 1o reading and watching his father forge, taking great interest in forging at an early age.

Alistair adored his sisters, he doted on Teresa, being the youngest and often protected her as much as he could but Lottie, was a nuisance and always a challenger when it came to verbal battles, she would fling and hurl sharp insults at him, finding it funny to belittle him, although loving her as a brother should he resented her for this and would try to avoid playing with her outside as to avoid being humiliated. Later on he developed a tongue sharp enough to defend himself against Millie and funnily enough brought them closer together. His father was always someone he both admired and hated, he always saw him as a strong man, gentleman like and well spoken however Alistair discovered Robert’s dirty secret. He had been running illegal weapons and was allied strongly with many criminal organisations.

Although he would insist on training more than literary or historical studies he was still forced to do such, he excelled in these studies but failed to put much effort into it, often falling bored and simply too fidgety.

Being born noble it was known for the men of the family to have training in swordplay and being the first born male of his branch Alistair was sent off to knights training at the age of 14 where he met Thomas Kade and became close friends with him. Thomas Kade guided and helped Alistair through the training, keeping him focused and motivated. He trained regularly with Thomas and developed a strong relationship as they often trained together.

Alistair took to knights training well, he enjoyed training with his friends and often spent nights training by himself, always refining his movements. After Thomas had left Alistair continued on, saddened by perhaps his closest friend’s departure but determined to meet him again as a full knight, still training on with the other Kades.

Approaching the life of an adult was straining, the pressure from mother and father increased when he returned from knights training having been knighted at the age of twenty four, his relationship with Robert intensified yet became distant as they rarely spoke, when they did it would start and end with argument. The stress was unbearable, shouting matches were never ending. The family had become a battlefield with the family going bankrupt. This is when Alistair began to fear the end of the Coen family, his fathers deeds coupled with Milahmes efforts resulting in the initial bankruptcy would mean the complete end this is when he made the hardest decision of his life, killing his father. He had stabbed him, making it seem like Roberts greed got the better of him and had tried swindling money from many crime lords. Making it seem like this caught Robert and swallowed him whole, he suffered a violent and brutal death and was simply left. The Coens ties with nobility meant that the criminals simply had their revenge and left.

This all happened in the crucial years of his life and had caused Alistair to snap. Alistair left his home and wandered, he secluded himself for two years where he trained in private and learned to forge from his travels. Alistair came to his sense and returned to his family, with a new skill and a better mindset. He went on to participate in the Grand Tournament and won, earning the title of Paladin at the age of 28.

Alistair had grown into a fine man, steering clear from his father's path and even selling weapons with his cousin.

Alistair fought in both the elven war and the battle of Calemberg, two of his first real battles, he also fought in the Qadir war and assisted Thomas during the Qadir occupancy.

@Woodwork I always enjoy reading character applications of nobility. Apply the following edits and I will gladly approve this one.
    • In the very first sentence, please mention the culture Alistair belongs to or grew up with.
    • In the second bullet point, I would also like you to mentioned the year Alistair was born in, a list of all his currently known relatives, how old they are, and where they currently live. Alternatively, you could simply provide a link to the Coen Family Thread.
    • In the body description, please go further into detail about where his muscles are especially prominent and why; where the muscles come from.
    • In the paragraph about Alistair's body hair, please also go into detail about his leg hair and back hair.
    • It seems like you accidentally left behind a bit of the original template. Check the bottom bullet point under "Head Description" and remove it.
    • Under the clothing, please go more into detail about the other clothing parts, such as pants, shoes, headwear, etc.
    • You should add a little more detail to the "Witty" personality trait, stating how it effects his life similar to how you did it with the other personality traits.
    • Alistair has quite powerful strengths, and not-so-powerful weaknesses. I'd like you to add one more weakness, preferably a physical one.
    • As being tall is practically not a weakness, it would be better to rename it to something like "Intimidating Posture".

It's looking fine. 210 pounds might be a little much, but it depends on how muscular you like to imagine Alistair. For the future, you could refer to this useful chart.

    @Woodwork

Everything seems to be in working order, I couldn't find any glaring lore inconsistencies or grammatical errors. Excellent work! I only advise that you fill in a few blurbs for his relationships, family is always an easy place to start. Re-approved!

    I am reviewing this character!

    • Beyond military perfection, Alistair needs to have some personal/political goals in mind. If your sole purpose with Alistair is to have him be a perfect warrior, you have little reason to play him in non combat rp situations, so make up reasons. Work off other people, especially trying to reach outside your usual circle.
    • So your personality traits are way too short; You should be aiming for 4-5 sentences per individual trait, not 2-3. Specifically, how he got these traits, how they evolve as he too changes as a character, how they effect how others perceive him, and how it influences his decision making. Remember, 5-6 complete sentences. Spare no detail.
    • Mooorreee detail on strengths/weaknesses. Define out of the box thinking. Does his athleticism not broaden to his martial skills? Don't you think that's something you should talk about in strengths given the Viridian Order? Add 2-3 sentences on all strengths and weaknesses.
    • 10-25 is still damn long enough for the effects to never be noticeable in combat rp, so pick another combat weakness.
    Your Progress: Under Review!
