Several days after the battle at Lindas Isle, a Kade and Typhonus led host descended upon Krago, the capital of Warrenord. The 1000 strong troops within the city of Krago prepared the coastal defences against 1000 Kade troops and 700 Typhonus troops. The Kade army had hoped for 300 mercenaries from the Coens up north, but the mercenaries refused to split from their main host, Thomas opting to simply push trough with his plans due to the security of his numerical superiority.

The tacticians were an odd bunch, Aron Santorski and Lucas Typhonus being noble, yet having no tactical schooling, supported by Shayin Crassan, a mage elf and Grey Drah'gon, a city guard. This composition of tacticians raised many eyebrows among the senior officers in the army, but none dared to raise their concern to Thomas, being the second Prince of the Empire. Disobeying his command was unheard of. Ulric Typhonus led his Typhonus host while Luthien Duchamp led her own on the flanks. Julian Kade led a smaller Kade host, but not his own troops. The Crown Prince had no permitted him to use his own soldiers, and he was instead forced to lead part of Thomas's army. Thomas had three bodyguards, his brother Cedric Kade, his cousin William Kade and his friend Liam Typhonus. The battle proceeded with a coastal attack, Kade vessels braving the bombardment of cannon fire to assault the harbor side of the city.

Disaster struck fairly early on. The assault was hard on the side, the flank led by Julian Kade and Luthien Duchamp was suffering heavy arrow fire, causing Lucas Typhonus to flag for artillery support on their position. Shayin Crassan promptly slapped the flag out of his hand and an argument between the two ensued. Shayin would not accept the collateral damage the cannon fire would cause on Kade soldiers, accusing the Typhonus of only caring about his own family retinues. Lucas argued against an Elf mage, below his social standing and a heretic, to be in charge of issuing commands on equal footing. Eventually both issued commands of contradicting nature, Shayin issuing an assault command, Lucas issuing the cannons. The result was a mismatched "teamkilling" where the Duchamp troops pressed forward and were promptly shot at by their own artillery cannons. As soon as Lucas and Shayin realized what had happened they jumped at each other and proceeded to fight, causing Aron Santorski and Grey Drah'gon to attempt to reverse course. The damage had already been done however, and the general retreat was given.

In the ensuing confusion, several Typhonus ships crashed into the Kade vessels veering off to the side for troop transport, sinking the Typhonus "Edelweiss" and "Loewe" while severely damaging the Kade vessels "Abernaanin" and "Pride of Draxford". The chaos prevented the central flank from being informed of the general retreat, while the Typhonus flank was utterly caught off. Both Ulric Typhonus and David Watson were caught in a hail of arrows, Typhonus being struck by one in the back and David Watson by one in his left leg. The Typhonus led host proceeded to limp back to the coastline all the while receiving fire and no support from the quarreling tacticians. David Watson was eventually nearly captured by the Rebels, had it not been for Cedric Kade suddenly appearing from the central flank with a few soldiers to support the left flank.

The fact that Cedric had abandoned post in the center made it apparent how broken communication truly was between the fronts. The central front, led by Thomas Kade, was not made aware of anything and was already halfway trough the city, slaughtering rebels where they could. Cedric had left the center feeling it was already a battle won, yet favor turned on them soon. With the Typhonus retreated and the Duchamp forced utterly smashed, the rebels encircled the main Kade host and suddenly came at them from all sides. Thomas and his two bodyguard left were cornered and hit by a shell impact of a cannonball. William Kade was able to jump out of the way of the explosion, landing on a nearby bed of hay, while Liam Typhonus was hit by flying debris and knocked back. Thomas received the majority of the blow, his entire body was flung upwards up against a metal fence belonging to a house. The force of the blast on his armor caused his body to crash into the hard metal, breaking bones all over his arms, legs and ribs. He was knocked unconscious by the shell shock, William Kade and Liam Typhonus scrambling to carry his bloody and mangled body back to the shoreline, all the while hailed with arrows and hostile rebels, shouting their hatred at the Kade.

When the tactician vessel attempted to evacuate as many soldiers as it could, it was shot with the coastal batteries, crashing cannon balls all over the deck. Grey Drah'gon took the majority of the damage, being smashed over the head by a falling piece of wood. Shayin Crassan and Aron Santorski also received wounds and cuts from the flying debris and cracking ship. The vessel eventually broke in two on the harbor, what people had survived the original cannonade swimming to other vessels for a quick retreat.

The battle had costed the lives of 400 Kade soldiers and 200 Typhonus soldiers. The majority of the troops who died were Duchamp soldiers, Luthien herself who had broken a bone from being smashed by a morning star. The Duchamp county lost 3 quarters of it's army in a single battle, causing severe discontent at home over the Kade's recent lordship over the Duchamp lands. Calls at home asked Frank Morys, who was not present at the battle, to convince the countess to abandon Kade ownership and favor a policy of blissfull isolation in the 14 castles of Tirgunn.

Discontent in Calemberg grew meanwhile, the people finally feeling at peace after the rebellion and wars with the Santorski's, only to be thrown into another war with a fresh round of dead sons, brothers and fathers. The only bright factor in this entire battle was the fact that half the rebels were dead, and the other half was severely dispirited. Aside from Cedric Kade performing well, William Kade performing averagely along with Aron Santorski and Grey Drah'gon (who ended up wounded in the end anyway), the only person who attained any amount of glory form the battle was Julian Kade. Without Julian's work on the side flank, Luthien Duchamp would surely have been captured and the rest of her soldiers utterly wiped out. With the thanks of the 100 or so Tirgunn hunters left, they owed their lives to his leadership and combat skill in the final moments of the retreat.

The Kade vessels made their way back to Regalia, carrying many wounded, noble and soldier alike. Thomas was rushed to the Imperial Palace where doctors and healers took care of him while the rest was sheltered at the local hospital. The aftermath of this battle was hard to oversee, as hands were moving in the mists of intrigue to weave their own plans into action. The Rebels in the Mountain Chain, were morally bolstered by their victory. More rebels flocked to the Rebel banners across the Isles and the situation became more pressing. The 10,000 strong militia army in Rendersa was on the move towards Coennia with the intent of burning the entire city to the ground. Immediate assistance was required to save the Coen capital.

Leugel says "Well, that was bad." As he watched the many injured troops being taken away in Regalia as he stood by the dock. He really needed to get into this fight.

Julian looked behind him, surveying the hand he'd been dealt. A small host of his cousin's levies, not more than 100 men. Perhaps he didn't trust Julian? He'd always seemed wary of Julian's outlying persona and foreign words. Julian quickly put the thoughts out of his mind. He looked to his left, seeing the Duchamp host assembled. It dwarfed Julian's humble battalion, easily four times the manpower of his own. He sighed, running a hand through his hair. As he stood, his weight leaning on his glaive, he couldn't help but worry. It had been quite some time since he saw real battle, beyond the dueling ring, and he'd never lead a host of men besides gangs of hooligans in Daendroque ghettoes. Battle rarely favoured the smaller troop. And what must his men have thought of him, standing in front of the assembled rows, in naught but padded leather, with a simple polearm in his hands? His musings were cut short by the roar of a horn. Turning to face the command tent, he arched his hand over his forehead, blocking the sun. He watched the flags being swayed and positioned, and his field interpreter quickly translated them. At Julian's barked commands, his puny force was off, marching in tune with the rest of the Kade Host's drums.

It had been perhaps twenty-minutes of marching before the command tent issued the next maneuvre. The almost-doubled distance had hardly changed much, and the tacticians' flags were clearly visible above the ridge behind the main line. To his left, the Tirgunn hunters quickly broke forth from the rest of the line, charging rather unceremoniously. He had a few short moments to ponder what exactly the tacticians were playing at, before the first shot struck. A whizzing noise passing over head, and a voluminous thump as clods of earth, debris and blood were churned up into the air. The next shot came a second later, and half-a-second seperated the next. A whole line of cannon-shot angled from the Kade-Host's own artillery lines was churning up the flank shared by Julian and the Duchamps, and the sickening realisation that Julian's own men were marching into the massacre halted him in his protracted, marching steps.

Julian called for his men to halt, but by the time they had grinded to a stop the barrage of shot was finished. Surveying the damage, Julian noted very few casualties, but the complete shock of the moment had completely disorganised the Duchamp flank. As the men were in rout, charging back along the line of assault, rebel flags peeked over the slight rise in the terrain, a mass of shining blades and makeshift-armour rolling down to where Julian and the Duchamps were now merging. Raising his voice among the murmurs of his men, Julian voice released a solitary blare into the whipping winds of the coastal bluff Krago sprawled along.

    "Hold your ground!"

The volume of Julian's voice surprised even himself, and was evidently loud enough to reach the ears of the men of Tirgunn. The conjoined forces began to intermix as they both tried to regain some form of structure, but by the time two rows of men were formed, the rapidly approaching rebel line was already less than two-hundred yards away. Unbekownst to Julian at the time, the same routing was affecting the rest of the Kade-Host, as even Thomas' main front was beginning to collapse in the city proper.

Julian stepped back into the front line of his troop of men as the rebels broke forward, charging into the midst of the half-organised Kade-Duchamp conglomerate. Julian's glaive slashed and stabbed at every figure approaching him as his training kicked in, employing showy arcs and acrobatic leaps that Julian never expected would extend beyond the ring. The sight of their leader fighting as such provided a huge morale boost to his men, who's efforts redoubled as the Duchamp forces began to falter. Issuing orders left and right between slashes and strikes, Julian reorganised the remainder of his force into something of a square, noting the seemingly small loss of men he had suffered. The Duchamps had broken off from Julian's men as they reorganised further up the ridge and the wavering line of Kade soldiers charged back down the rise to where the Duchamp forces were being overwhelmed. By the time they had reached the Duchamps, most of them were slain, leaving the previously gargantuan force comparable (or lesser) than Julian's paltry soldiers. Julian sighted the Countess Duchamp at this moment fighting fervently with her claymore as an ever growing pool of rebels encircled her. When all hope seemed lost, the Kade force broke forth, charging into the dwindling rebel line with a tsunami-like force. After about 15 minutes of fighting, the rebel force began to recede back, retreating to the city. A skirmish survived, but a battle lost.

Julian grimly examined the piles of bodies surrounding him, his boots sinking into the mixed blood and muck. Shaking his head, he raised his spear high, pointing it back towards the command tent, finally offering his men retreat.
