This battle took place several days after the initial Regalian Counter Offensive, knowledge of it would be available to all characters involved.

In response to the taking of Steinburg, the Qadir Army sent a mass of slave-fighters to recapture the settlement. 20,000 Qadir fortified in the outlying hills, and after amassing for a few days, marched on the town. The Regalian Fleet boasted only 12,000 soldiers, having not yet recovered fully from the battle to take the town. Not wanting to risk being surrounded, Ulric Typhonus ordered his army to the north of Steinburg, to meet the opposing force head-on. Splitting the army into five, he distributed 3000 men to Liam Typhonus, 3000 to Julian Kade, 2000 to Mathias Paschen (of whom had much to prove after his glorious triumph in the previous battle), 3000 to Gustavo Anahera, and finally 2000 to Christopher Black. The Qadir army promptly divided their ranks at the sight of the Regalians, attacking each regiment with roughly 4000 soldiers each.

The centre column was commanded by Liam Typhonus, supported by Maximilian Typhonus as his tactician and Jared Silverhand as his bodyguard. They would be facing an advancing battalion of 4000 Qadir soldiers. The initial assault was fought excellently by the Regalian levies, the front lines only taking minimal casualties as the Ailor marched forward to meet the Sultanate's forces head on. Their success was further increased by a well timed order by Maximilian Typhonus for the levies to charge, cutting down several of the opposing Qadir's soldiers. However, their moment of victory was brief. As Liam Typhonus ordered his soldiers forward, the Qadir began to prepare ballista from back behind the front lines of the Sultanate. As the Regalians marched into range, the Qadir unleashed a flurry of arrows into the Ailor ranks. The front lines took heavy casualties, Liam Typhonus himself being struck in the shoulder, and once more in his abdomen, causing him to collapse onto the ground. The earl's screams of pain did not go unnoticed by the remainder of his soldiers, most of whom began to lose morale at the loss of their officer. But the effect on the Qadir army was quite the opposite as they began to thunder forward in a sudden rally of confidence. Maximilian Typhonus quickly ordered a retreat, as Jared Silverhand began darting into the Qadir ranks, striking down various Qadir officers and slave drivers at a frightening pace. As their commanding slave drivers fell, the local slave soldiers became confused, instead choosing to continue their charge after the Regalian levies. This allowed Jared to hoist Liam onto his shoulder and continue the retreat back to the command at Steinberg.

The left wing of the Regalian Army, 3000 strong, was led by Julian Kade, with Alistair Red as his tactician. Having been absent from the previous battle, the Red had to make up for this as they prepared to defend Steinberg. Positioning themselves on the outskirts of Steinberg, they prepared for an arrow-head charge. The Qadir forces, in response, strengthened their right and left flanks, which weakened their central forces. The central flank of the Regalian army, led by Julian Kade himself, charged right into the Qadir ranks, killing many as they formed said arrowhead. The right and left flanks of the Regalian defenders held their own, but without such an inspiring figure to lead them, they quickly collapsed. Nearly trapped by Qadir ranks on all sides, Julian begrudgingly ordered a full on retreat, himself barely making it out as he and his men flew back to Steinberg's borders. He was shot thrice as he retreated, yet the stubborn Kade made it back to the safety of Steinburg, his right arm and gut sporting wounds. Wounded, with a majority of their men killed, the left wing was in a desperate state as the Qadir army approached Steinberg proper…

After his smashing success in the previous battle, many in Regalia expected to hear great news from Mathias Paschen (being guarded by Cassius Paloin) and his regiment. Aided by a superior tactician Ludwig Fuchs, most expected the host of 2000 to achieve victory. They prepared for a strong right flank to sweep around, but Ludwig underestimated the importance of the central column of their regiment. How shocked the Regalian defenders were when, moments after realizing the majority of the entire Sultanate army had mustered on their left flank, the forces in the center of their regiment collapsed almost at once. Cassius and Mathias themselves fought decently, leading the right flank, and their left responded in kind. But the central bulk of the Regalian defenders collapsed. Like a keystone, this proved to be disastrous for the right and left flanks, and a hasty retreat was called. With the left flank and wing of the entire army in retreat, the advancing Qadir gained confidence, while the Regalian defenders lost morale.

On the right wing of the Regalian Army, Gustavo Anahera led his 3000 in a defensive stand on the outskirts of Steinburg, with Graeton Pileran as his tactician. Rently Ryers and Trent Thorpe would serve as bodyguards for the Anahera. At Graeton's request, the bulk of his forces used the nearby houses for cover, only counter-charging as the Sultanate forces grew close to the utmost edge of the army. Gustavo Anahera led the charge well, and Rently Reyers distinguished himself by cutting down a charging Qadir on horseback, who had been intent on striking down the commanding Anahera. Trent Thorpe would not be so fortunate, letting a small group of Qadir cavalry get past him, nearly costing Gustavo Anahera his life. Still, not prepared for the sheer amount of defenders nor the coordinated charges of the right and central flank, this contingent of Qadir soldiers quickly fell, a bulk of the forces retreating to the North.

Meanwhile on the right flank, Christopher Black lead his army of 2,000 (supported by Stephen Svangor as his tactician and Grey Draegon as his bodyguard) against 4,000 soldiers of the Sultanate. Failure seemed imminent as the superior number of Qadir forces charged at their position, but Christopher held his ground, ordering his men to counter the charge. As the two armies clashed, Grey Draegon distinguished himself as a capable bodyguard by successfully defending Earl Black from several Qadir cavalrymen, who would have surely maimed the earl had they gotten within range. Christopher Black himself seemed to redeem his previous loss in the attack on the supply train, rallying his soldiers on as they tore through the Qadir lines. Eventually, the Qadir resolve was broken, and the soldiers that remained turned and fled into a retreat, securing victory on the right flank.

Seeing defeat on the horizon, Ulric Typhonus dashed to the main gates, ordering up the retreating central army to charge. With Cedric Kade, Tristan Lamperouge, and Lysander Lamperouge guarding him, he led his forces on and had the Arch-Chancellor send word to the victorious right flank to sweep to their left. Charging head on out of the gates of Steinburg proper, the Regalian defenders pushed the central portion of the Qadir army back. Tristan and Lysander held the left and right flanks of the army, while Cedric Kade cut a swath of Qadir down, causing terror and disorder among the ranks. With the central column of the army scattered, they curved left, coming to the aid of the retreating left flank and wing just as the victorious Qadir took to Steinberg's borders. Seeing this, Maximillian Typhonus ordered a charge in Liam's absence. At this point, Maximillion was being guarded by a returning Jared Silverhand, leading their remaining men in a last effort to reconnect with Ulric and his charging men. Now trapped between the two forces, with Christopher Black and Gustavo Anahera sweeping across their backs, Ulric Typhonus' charge coming in from the side, and Maximilian's men defending the borders of the city with their all, the Qadir army was slaughtered. The retreat horns were sounded once more by the Sultanate army, and Steinberg was firmly in the hands of the Grand Imperial Host.

While victorious, the defenders of Steinburg had lost many men in defending the hold. Yet with time being bought for additional support troops and supplies to be brought, the battle was certainly no waste. The Qadir army had taken incredible losses, and would take time to muster up enough force to try and drive the Regalians back to sea. Likely not before the Grand Imperial Host could strike again...

As the battle ended, Trent was rather disappointed in himself, Sure he had killed a number of Qadir, but cavalry had gotten past him and that could have cost the Anahera his life! so Trent vowed he would not let them past next time
