It looks like it, but it actually isn't.

This is described as a proxy, not the actual work of the sharding plugin.

What Cayorion said:

[1/11/2013 11:10:08 PM] Olof Larsson - Cayorion: Yeah. BungeeCoord is the name of the proxy.
[1/11/2013 11:10:13 PM] Olof Larsson - Cayorion: That one is already made.
[1/11/2013 11:10:15 PM] Olof Larsson - Cayorion: We are going to use it.
[1/11/2013 11:10:32 PM] Olof Larsson - Cayorion: What I am doing is coding plugins that work across servers so all servers will seem like one.

This plugin makes the sharding project faster, but is not the actual work of sharding.

A more in depth explanation of what this does:

Clustering the servers so they act as one in your server screen, make them inter connectible from the server without having to type in a new IP every time. This is wonderful news, if this is not closed source, sharding will become alot faster.

What would happen now if we implemented it and made ceardia our main world:

Your inventory, experience, MCMMO stats, premium, chat, factions and more would all cease to exist in other worlds. Every time you would connect to Ellador or Ithania, it's like a player reset or whatever you left it at when you left that world last time.

What Cayorion is doing:

Cayorion is writing or altering plugins in a way that once that proxy system is in place, the servers will use an external or alternate data storage to request information about hunger, experience, MCMMO, factions etc. Some of these elements are alread in place on the server today, so it is a project ongoing but it takes time.

We all want to work on factions 2 as quickly as possible, but Cayorion wants to prioritize sharding first, and since he is our only coder currently, we have no alternative.
