OK, so you know how you can put books in frames and people can copy them? Well I thought that if you owned a book store and you wanted to advertise your books, then you wouldn't want the people copying your book and running without paying. So then I though, maybe you should be able to set how far a person can get away from the book frame, and if they pass that amount, the books clears. This way people can't steal books, they can only view them. I think it is a good idea (well yea, I came up with it :D) but I want to know what you guys think.

I like this, but it may be a bit easier to just make it so when the person who copies the book logs out, the book clears. Also, it may be a good idea that when you write a book it is marked as 'Original' and when you copy a book it is marked as 'copy'. This would increase the price of original books.

Well books already clear when you log off because of a glitch :D but they could put the book in a chest. I like the "Original" idea but if you edit the book then it would be another original. So unless we make a thing that tells you the time it was made, it would not work.

slight tweek on your idea
How about you can open the book in the frame and flip through it, but not copy it
then you can give them a hard copy when they buy it

Here another suggestion. You can set a price for copying books. It could be with a sign below it saying

line 1: nothing (will become the sellers name when created, like chest shops)
line 2: book shop
line 3: (price to copy in silver)
line 4: nothing

It would also disable someone from copying it if they don't have the silver and if you don't want to charge you don't need a sign.

That defeats the purpose of my idea. I don't want a chest shop, I want to let people view the book and buy a copy if they want.

How about this then. If you have a sign underneath the book then it turns on the deletion when x amount of blocks away. To be able to keep the book people need to select it and type /book buy before they walk away. it will then pay the price of the book when they copied it to the writer, not the person who put up the sign. With this people would have to get the writer to unlock the book if they want to sell it and make money off it. If they try and sell it without the writers permission then they wont make any money at all, it will all go to the writer. They could take the time to hand copy it and then sell it but hand copying is not an efficient way to copy books and they would be doing a lot of work for little gain.
